Wilma Langstraat

Wilma Langstraat went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 10, 2014. She passed away surrounded by loved ones at the age of 91. She was born in Hospers, Iowa, on January 19, 1923, to Klaas and Grace (Hulst) Dykstra.

Wilma grew up in Iowa, the youngest of nine. She moved to Lynden in her teens, and graduated from Lynden High School. During WWII she worked at Douglas Aircraft in California; later she was trained by Dr. Rowe and worked in the office of Dr. Rowe and Dr. Webster.

Wilma married Wilbur Langstraat in1948. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Wilbur; her 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Wilma is survived by her children: Jed(Pam) Langstraat, Jerryl(Dawn)Langstraat, Nancy(Marty)Gering, Mark(Madlyn)Langstraat, Jana(George)Beanblossom, Kurt(Gwen)Langstraat, 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter; sisters Ramona Noteboom, and Marie Smith of Spokane, and numerous nieces and nephews. Music was a big part of her life, and family time usually included a time of singing together. We will be celebrating her life with family sharing and music at a Memorial Service to be held at North County Christ the King Community Church Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00p.m. A graveside service was held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden, WA.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Christian Health Care Center for their loving care of Wilma during the past 5 months.
