Santiago "Santi" Anglada Palleja

Santiago (Santi) Anglada Palleja, age 88, of Bellingham passed away Monday, April 27, 2015.  Santi was born in Barcelona, Spain.  His parents were Enrique Anglada Conejos and Julia Palleja Vina.  Santi left Spain to escape the brutality of the Spanish Civil War after the death of his parents. He loved his homeland very much and upon the death of Francisco Franco he was able to return to his homeland to see his family.  After leaving Spain, Santi joined the French Navy and discovered many parts of the world.  After arriving in Mexico, he worked for many years as a general manager for Corona Beer.  It was in Mexico that he met his first wife, Rosa de Castilla.  Rosa was a movie star and singer.  With her, they had two wonderful children, Rosita Anglada and Gerrardo Anglada.  After they divorced, Santi came to live in the United States.  Santi lived in Texas before moving to Los Angeles, California, where he worked for Tanaco Products.  Santi relocated to Blaine, Washington when Tanaco Products moved their business from Los Angeles to Blaine.  He retired in 2007 after being employed as a plant inspector for 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Julia Anglada Palleja, his granddaughter Stephanie Orozco, his sister Maria Merce Mercader and his brother Henry Anglada. Santi is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Susan Radonski-Anglada; his children Rosita Anglada and Gerardo Anglada both of Mexico City; his grandchildren, Andres Orozco and Gerardo Anglada, Jr. also of Mexico City and numerous nieces and nephews in Barcelona, Spain.  Santi will be remembered for his sweet, gentle ways, his passion for life and his wonderful oil paintings. A Funeral Mass will be offered by Father K. Scott Connolly at the Church of Assumption, 2116 Cornwall AV, Bellingham, WA 98225, Monday, May 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m.  A Celebration of Santi’s Life will follow at the Boathouse at Zuanich Park, 2600 Harbor Loop, Bellinghan, WA 98225.  Donations may be made in Santi’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Adult Day Health and Rosewood Villa for the exceptional care that they provided to him.
