Robert David Allen, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on September 10th 2024. He was born on October 10th 1935 in Irvington, Kentucky, the son of Thomas and Nina Allen.
Bob, as he was frequently referred, graduated from Bellflower High School of Bellflower, California, Class of 1953. Following his graduation, he served in the United States Airforce from October 7th 1954 to August 7th 1958. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After his honorable discharge from Military Service, he was married to Joanne Marie Correll (Allen) on October 24th 1958.
Bob and Joanne started their life together in Compton, California, where he continued his education at Compton College to pursue his passion for the arts, graduating in 1962. He then, attended The Art Center School of Design in Los Angeles, California from 1963 to 1967. Bob went on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration and a Master’s Degree in Art and Teaching from California State University, Long Beach, where he attended from 1968 to 1976. In 1977 Bob and Joanne and their four boys moved from California to Washington State and settled in the town of Ferndale.
He started a vast professional career that included teaching High School and College level art, being able to transmit his knowledge of the arts to his students. Bob’s artistic career included projects for college level and professional sports teams, TV stations, amongst numerous other clients. He also proudly worked for the United States Government as an Immigration Officer for 20 years until his retirement in 2003.
After his retirement he enjoyed playing the Trombone with the Bellingham Community Band and continued with his artistic dedication that he had established in the community of Ferndale, Washington
Bob was a born-again Christian. His faith in Christ Jesus had given him peace. Now a realized hope of eternal life with God. One of his favorite scriptures was:
He has made everything Appropriate in his time.
He has also set eternity in the human heart;
yet no man can fathom what God has done
from beginning to the end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
Bob peacefully left his loving wife of 66 years, Joanne, their four sons, Kevin, Bryan, Darrin, and Brandon, their spouses Margarita, Jody, and Julie, 13 Grandchildren, and 12 Great Grandchildren.
Bob will be greatly missed. His memory will live on, in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him.
