Richard Dalton Rasmussen

Richard D. Rasmussen, age 43, of Blaine passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 in the presence of his Lord and Savior and surrounded by his loving family. Rich has courageously battled with Huntington’s  Disease for 25 years and he fought the good fight until the very end.  Rich was born in Phoenix, AZ to Jerry and Linda Rasmussen and was one of four brothers.  He attended school in Milwaukie, OR. As a young man Rich was a talented athlete, excelling at wrestling and competitive skate boarding.  Later in life, Rich enjoyed spending his time hiking, camping and fishing.  Rich was loving and humorous (funny hats were his trademark), and he always had a twinkle in his eyes.  He was preceded in death by his older brother John and his mother Linda.  Rich is survived by his father Jerry and stepmother Marilyn Rasmussen; brothers Todd and Jeff (Bri) Rasmussen; grandmother Millicent Lacy; step brother Dave (Karen) Oiness; step sister Tracy; nieces and nephews Kelsey, Jacob, Sean, Liv and Cruz. We give thanks to Hospice and to all his wonderful caregivers at Sandwater Adult Family Home who loved and cared for him so well for the last six years.  A graveside inurnment will be held Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, 2:00 PM at Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham followed by a reception at 3:00 PM at Life Church Bayside, 747 Marine Dr., Bellingham, WA.
