Raymond "Dale" Munkres was born February 07, 1944 to parents Harvey "Wayne" Munkres and Jensine Haugsdal of Lynden, WA. He passed away on February 2, 2025 at the age of 80. Dale was the youngest of 3 brothers Arden Munkres (Oldest), Dean Munkres (Middle). He grew up on the family farm in Northern Whatcom County off Noon & Pole Roads.
Dale was very proud of his 36 years of service in the Air National Guard and ending with rank of Senior Master Seargent. He also served 27 years as a Volunteer Firefighter at North Bellingham Fire Station #7, 1st as a paramedic, then as a First Aid Trainer, and later as Battalion Chief. He also Drove Class A semi trucks for Ludtke Pacific Trucking for a few years. Dale loved camping, fishing, family get togethers, cribbage, just to name a few things and was an avid RV Coach enthusiast for the last 17 years touring the country several times.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and older brothers noted above. He is survived by wife of 35 years, Judy Neudeck Munkres; son Scott Munkres (Tracey), daughter Heidi Munkres (Sig); stepdaughters, Stephanie Watkins, Erika Watkins (Christer); stepson, Jeffrey Watkins (Sandy); grandchildren, Audry Munkres, Samuel Perrin, Sofia Watkins, Jacob Watkins; nephews, Dan Munkres, Ben Munkres, Dale Munkres, Jeff Munkres, Joey Munkres; niece, Jill Munkres, and also first wife (Zella Chapman). Dale was a jack of all trades and always had a kind demeanor at all times helping anyone who asked. A Celebration of Dale's Life will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at the American Legion Albert J. Hamilton Post #7, 1688 W. Bakerview Road, Bellingham, WA 98226.
