Patricia “Patti” Jane Foster (Orr): May 23, 1960- December 25, 2016. Patti passed away peacefully in her sleep on Christmas morning surrounded by her family. She fought breast cancer bravely and with a smile for over seven years, while still caregiving for others in her community.
Patti was born in Trunkee, Calif. on May 23, 1960 to Robert and Ocie “Maxine” Orr. She moved up to Bellingham, Wash. and graduated from Bellingham High School in 1978. She worked at the Safeway bakery for many years before finding her two callings: motherhood and caregiving. She married David Foster on June 22, 1985. Together, they had two children, Kelli and Bryant. Through the years, she was always involved in community service and other activities, always supporting her children. Whether in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, orchestra or school sports, she was always there cheering them on and going above and beyond expectation. While caregiving, Patti met many wonderful people that helped shape her life and gave her passion for life and love. Her hard work ethic as well as her can-do attitude was an inspiration to her family and anyone who met her. In her free time, she loved showing her true colors: green and blue. She loved the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners and never missed a game. When she wasn’t celebrating a Seahawks win, she was celebrating holidays in her own festive style. She never needed an event to go all out in style, decked head to toe in festive earrings, scarves and a smile.
She is survived by her husband David Foster, her two children Kelli Stewart (Foster) and Bryant Foster, her son-in-law Steven Stewart, future daughter-in-law Haley Cross, and her loving and rambunctious cats, Horatio, Spock, Alfie, BlackJack and George. She is also survived by family in Bellingham, Oregon and Florida.
She will be missed dearly by her family and the many people she met along the way. For those who would like to celebrate her life, join us for food and a toast to Patti at Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen at 601 W. Holly Street on the back patio on Friday, December 30, 2016. Feel free to drop by between 6:30pm until 8:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation in her name.
