Niilo Untinen

A graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday August 22, 2014, with Sigs Funeral Services in Bayview Cemetery, 2465 Lakeway Drive., Bellingham, for Niilo Untinen, who died August 15, 2014, at age 91. Mr. Untinen was born February 25, 1923 in Milwaukie, Oregon. He married Helen Hartos on March 10, 1949, and was happily married for 53 years. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1959, and settled back in Milwaukie. They had numerous pets over the years, with his last old pal of 17years being Tippy 2. He had a long and productive life. His generosity and joyful outlook on life will be greatly missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. Nillo was preceded in death by his late wife Helen Untinen, his sister Lillian and her husband Julius Bartel; brother Carl Untinen; half-brothers Charlie and wife Clair Ellison, Banden Ol, and Zon Wells; and Niilo’s parents Karl and Anna Untinen. He is survived by his daughter Maryann Clevenger; granddaughter, Dorian Clevenger; niece Theresa and husband Ralph Wooden and family, Nephew Raymond & wife Beth and family ,cousin Jean Auel, sister-in-law Rita McGarrity; his nephews and niece, Michael McGarrity, John McGarrity, Therese McCully, David McGarrity, Mark McGarrity, Thomas McGarrity, and their children and other family and friends.
