Nelda Lou Irvine

Nelda Lou Irvine passed away at her daughter’s house in Bellingham, WA on December 21, 2021 four days shy of age 74. Nelda was born on December 25, 1947 in Carthage, TX, grew up in Kilgore, TX, and she lived most of her adult life in Tyler, TX.
Nelda graduated from Kilgore High School, and she worked at Wal-Mart in Tyler for 24 years.
Nelda is preceded in death by her parents, Birdie Lou (Haden) Hollis and Hiram Rousseau Hollis, and brother, Hiram Ray Hollis. She is survived by her daughter, Holly Marie Marantette, and her sister, Melba Sue Richards.
Nelda was kind-hearted, beamed an infectious smile, and showed a mischievous glimmer in her eyes when kidding about hiding her belongings. She loved looking at the mountains, strolling by sailboats, watching disaster movies and zombie tv shows; and she dearly loved her little dogs throughout her life (Marie, Autumn, Susie, Sandy). Nelda also enjoyed traveling to new places with her daughter on sight-seeing vacations.
The family would like to thank Whatcom Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Nelda during her final days.

A funeral service will be held on December 30, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St Brenden’s Anglican Church, 925 N. Forest St, Bellingham, WA, phone #360-318-7502.

Holly, I'm so sorry for your loss. Nelda was always so friendly and always had a story to tell. She was so very proud of you and wished you didn't live so far away. I found her to be resilient in times of trouble. I will miss seeing her when I go to Walmart. Praying for you and your family.

I know Nelda from Walmart. She was "my" checker…I loved talking with her! She always spoke very lovingly about her daughter! I noticed I haven't seen her lately when I've been shopping… I'm going to miss her a lot! She was a very strong and courageous woman! I'll see you soon sweet lady!
My heart is heavy for Nelda's family and friends. Please know y'all are in my thoughts and prayers. May God's peace and comfort that surpasses all understanding cover y'all today, tomorrow and all the tomorrow's to come. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

Dear Holly: Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Although we didn't get a chance to know your mother, she raised a wonderful daughter. Love, Dan and Marie Marantette
