Monte Y. Adams of Bellingham, WA, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the age of 86, after battling various health issues in the last year.
Monte, one of 7 children, was born in Johnstown, PA to his parents, Charles and Lucille Adams. As a young child his family moved to New Kensington, PA, where he grew up and attended school until he joined the U.S. Air Force.
Upon joining the U.S. Air Force, Monte trained and served as an Airborne Radio Operator, flying as a crew member on several types of planes. He traveled the world and served in various locations, such as California, Florida, North Carolina, Japan, Sweden, Thailand and Vietnam. Monte was honored and awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal during his military career. While serving his country and raising his family, Monte also continued to further his education by attending college. Following his military retirement he worked in retail for several years in Sacramento, CA, until he moved to Bellingham, WA in the mid 1980s.
Monte worked hard to raise and provide for his family. Monte enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he loved dancing, music, cars, and airplanes. He enjoyed reading, especially when it came to American history. Monte loved to cook and was known for sharing his meals with the people he loved.
He is survived by his 4 children Brent (Marie) Adams, Paige Adams-Hensley and Shawn (Lisa) Adams; his sister Rebecca (David) Seirup; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Monte was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Charles Adams II, Jeff Adams, John Adams and his sisters, Patricia Farner and Celeste Leffler.
Services will be held at Christ the King Church, 4173 Meridian Street, Bellingham, WA on Monday, August 28 at 11:00 am, followed with a graveside service with Military Honors at Enterprise Cemetery, located at 7041 Vista Drive Ferndale, WA 98248. Immediately following the graveside services there will be a reception for friends and family to gather in celebration of Monte’s life.
