Mine Smith formerly of Rancho Cordova passed away at her home in Washington State Thursday,May 16, 2013 after years of living with heart & lung disease. She was born on Dec 14, 1923 in Nishiyama Utashinai-Mura, Sorachi-gun, Hokkaido Japan to Takeo & Ayano Yoneyasu.
She lived in Rancho Cordova for 42 years where she enjoyed bowling, BINGO, going to the casino with her girlfriend, sewing, knitting, & gardening. Many will remember her peaches, oranges & lemons as she enjoyed sharing with family, neighbors, friends & people she came in contact with on regular basis. She had moved to Washington State to live with her daughter & be near her family in June 2012.
Mine is survived by her daughter Harumi Handelin & husband Carl, son, Lenie Smith Jr.; her grandchildren Eric, John, Jessica, Katrina, & Kimberly; great-grandchildren Kaysha, Elias, Jazlyn, Sonja, Zachary, Charlyn, Azure, & Alanis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, & loving husband, Lenie. Mine will be laid to rest at Sylvan Cemetery in Citrus Heights, CA on May 30that 11:00 AM next to her husband.
She was an amazing, independent woman/mother with a heart of gold. We will miss her dearly. We love you, O-ba-a San.
