Mildred Bartling Pries

Mildred Bartling Pries, age 92, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2014 at Shuksan Healthcare Center in Bellingham, WA. She was born January 17, 1922 in Oakland, CA to William and Hilda Bartling. She married Robert G. Pries in Piedmont, CA on October 18, 1953.

Mildred and Bob raised their family and lived in Alameda, CA for over 60 years. Mildred and her sister, Wilda became known for their longevity in service to the community’s Meals on Wheels program and devoted decades to volunteering. Mildred had a long affiliation with PEO and had a deep love for family, family gatherings, her grandchildren, babies, lunch dates with The Club Girls, scouring good sales at “junk shops,” camping at Pinecrest Lake and vacationing at Lake Tahoe.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hilda Bartling, her husband, Robert in 2001, her brother-in-law, William Knox, and sister-in-law, Pat Pries. She is survived by her brother, Bill (Barbara) Bartling, her sister, Wilda Knox, her brother-in-law, Donald Pries, her sons, Randy (Pam) Pries, Tom (Debbie) Pries, Ken (Karen) Pries, her grandchildren, Anne (Robert) Campbell, Ben (Shannon) Pries, Brittnie Pries, Evan Pries, Jordan Pries, Kristin Pries, her great-grandson, Eli Thomas Pries, and numerous nephews and nieces.

A service will be held at a later date in the Bay Area to celebrate Mildred’s life.
