Marinus A. “Rene” Geleynse, age 82,  was born to Bert and Dena ”Schiebout” Geleynse in Lynden, WA on July 29, 1932 and was welcomed in to Heaven on Thursday, April 23, 2015.He was raised in Whatcom County.

At the age of 14 he started working on dairy farms. And at the age of 19, Rene married the love of his life, Anne Holtrop, on June 27, 1952. Soon after he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea. He was honorably discharged in November 1954. In 1964, he and Anne bought their own business, State Street Laundry, which they owned and operated for 30 years.  Rene was a Charter Member of Bellingham Christian Reformed Church (Hope in Christ), where he served in many capacities. He was also an avid bowler for most of his life and won numerous league championships. In his early years, he built his own boat and took his family camping, fishing and water skiing. For the past 8 years, Rene resided at Spring Creek Retirement Center.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Dena, Johanna, Cora, and Leona, brothers, Conrad and Delbert, and granddaughter, Shannon.  In addition to his wife, Anne, he leaves his sons, Dale (Robin), Carl (Gloria) and daughter Joleen, grandchildren, Ryan, Mike, Alan and Scott and great-grandchildren, Shannon and Logan, and his brother Chris (Louise) and sister-in-law Jeanette.   A memorial Service  will be held  2:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Hope in Christ Church, 710 E. Sunset Dr., Bellingham. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hour of Power, PO Box 100, Garden Grove, CA. 92842, Whatcom Hospice, 2901 Squalicum Pkwy, Bellingham, WA., 98225 or Hope in Christ Church. The family would like to thank the staff at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center for their loving and wonderful care.
