Marilyn Gen Schuyleman

April 15, 1939 — January 12, 2025

Lynden, WA

Marilyn G. Schuyleman was welcomed at heaven’s door by her Lord and Savior on January 12, 2025. She was born on April 15, 1931 to John W. and Tillie (Haveman) Schuyleman in Lynden, WA and was the 5th child of 6.

Marilyn attended Lynden Christian Schools and was proud to be a part of Lynden Christian High School’s first graduating class in 1949. Continuing her education, she attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and received her RN certificate in 1955. Marilyn loved being a registered nurse, working in Bellingham, Chicago, Seattle and Gallop, New Mexico.

Photography was one of her hobbies, especially taking pictures of flowers and Mt. Baker. She enjoyed giving back to others and during her retirement, she knit over 500 hats for newborn babies. She also volunteered at the Lynden Senior Center, taking blood pressure.

Marilyn was very dedicated to reading her Bible and delving into understanding God’s messages for us. Her library included many Bible commentaries used in her studying. Marilyn was a charter member of Lynden United Reformed Church and was active in Bible studies and Women’s groups. Her church family was an important part of her life.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings and their spouses including: Gwen & Bill Van Wert, Thelma & Ted Waschke, Jim & Ann Schuyleman. Bernie & Nella Schuyleman and Melvin & Clara Schuyleman. She is survived by her nieces and nephews.

We want to thank the staff at Meadow Green & Christian Health Care Center for their loving care.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 @ 2:00pm at Lynden United Reformed Church, 8650 Benson Rd. Lynden, WA.
