Laura Lucille Galovin, age 82, of Bellingham passed away at the Whatcom Hospice House Saturday, April 12, 2014. She was born April 4, 1932 in Eugene, Oregon to parents Casper Alias and Clara LaBella (Johnson) Anderson. Laura loved to cook it was her passion, she owned and operated the Peace Arch Café in Blaine for many years. Her cooking skills took her to Juneau, Alaska where she worked in various Hotels. She also made it up to the Alaska Pipeline cooking for various crews and the North Slope School District in various villages, retiring back in Bellingham to be with her family. Laura was preceded in death by her husband’s Harold Frank Smith and George Peter Galovin and is survived by her children, Steve Smith and his wife Colleen, Doug Smith, Terry Smith and Lori Randall and her husband Tim; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Ross and her brother Keith Anderson and his wife Marg. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A graveside service will be held at Bayview Cemetery, Bellingham, WA, Wednesday, April 16, 2014, 10:30 AM with Pastor Skip Suess officiating. There will be a reception following the graveside service at Fox Hall, 3985 Bennett Dr., Bellingham, WA 98225. Family suggests memorials be made to Hospice House, 2800 Douglas AV, Bellingham, WA 98225.
