Kimberly Ann Brandt

October 21, 1978 — April 7, 2025

Sumas, WA

Kimberly Ann Brandt, a beautiful young mother of 46, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, after a battle with cancer. Born on October 21, 1978, in Bellingham, Washington to Sam Brandt, and Barbara Brown.

Kim lived in Whatcom county all of her life. As a teen she fell in love with horses. She joined 4-H where she made lots of friends, showed, and took her horse to the fair. Kim rode almost daily with her siblings, paving their own trails through the woods to meet up with friends. Although this was scary to her siblings, they trusted that Kim was older and wiser and would get them back safely.

As a young woman Kim began flagging. This paved the way for a career in road construction that Kim absolutely loved. From flagger, to weighmaster, to lead aggregate dispatcher. She had certifications as a flagger, weighmaster, pilot car driver and had a CDL.

Kim was known to be “extremely knowledgeable of both materials, inventory and personal management with great communication and organizational skills. Kim could adapt to any challenge that arrived. She had excellent customer service and had wonderful working relationships with all the customers she dealt with.” “Kim was flexible and calm in periods of chaos and took on new assignments and responsibilities without hesitation.” Kim was known for going the extra mile to help customers and those she worked with.

Kim spent most of her time with her family and son, Mason. She genuinely loved traveling and took Mason on numerous trips around the U.S. She would ask all her friends and family to accompany her to different places, most recently going to Italy, Scotland, Iceland and Switzerland.

If you knew Kim, you knew that she was strong-willed, hardworking, badass, stubborn, protector, fighter, kind, smart, loving, opinionated (and usually right) yet soft-hearted, and always willing to help. She could give you a natural remedy, or go out and fix her own car. If you had the pleasure of working with Kim then you also know that she loved to pull pranks on her coworkers. There were lots of laughs, with pictures to prove it.

We are grateful for the time and memories we had with Kim. Thank you for all the love and laughter that we have enjoyed deeply, and will forever be a part of us.

Kim is survived by her son, Mason; her parents, Sam Brandt and Barbara Brown; sister, Jamie Brandt; brother, Leon Brandt; and nephew, Thaisyn Foeung. Kim was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Collin Brandt (2023).
