Kenneth Bert Backstrom, age 88, went to be with his beloved Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in Bellingham. He was born February 9, 1934 and grew up and lived in Whatcom County. He met the love of his life Betty in 1955 and were married for 66 years. He was drafted in the Army and spent 2 years in Germany as a Helicopter Mechanic. After returning home from the service, he went to work for Georgia Pacific Pulp and Paper Mill where he worked for over 45 years. His highest priorities in his life were his faithfulness and devotion to God and Family. He enjoyed family vacations and many trips to Disneyland, camping, fishing, hunting and Husky Football games. He loved spending time with family at picnics, family gatherings, birthday parties and going to as many of his grandchildren’s sporting events as possible. They all knew when their “Gaumpy” was there. He was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Mildred, his siblings Bob and Marlene, his baby son Steven and wife Betty. Kenneth is survived by his daughter Lori (Ronny) Davis, sons Brad (Margie) Backstrom, Danny (Heather) Backstrom, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 27 nieces and nephews, and 38 great-nieces and nephews. A graveside service will held Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Greenacres Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., followed by a 3:00 PM celebration of life service at Living Water Fellowship Church, 4767 Guide Meridian, Bellingham, WA.
