K Arlene Friel

K Arlene Friel, age 77, of Bellingham, passed away, Friday, April 20, 2012 at the age of 77. A native of Montana, K was born, September 10, 1934 in Eureka. At the age of 17 K moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she met and married Kent Myles Friel and raised their family until 1971, when they moved to Bellingham. K joined the staff St Joseph’s Hospital and proudly worked there for over three decades.

K was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer which took her life; but K survived lung cancer seven years prior.

K was preceded in death by her husband Kent, her parents McKinley and Marian Irwin, sisters Marie and Rae, brothers Robert and Clayton, and daughter Debra Lynn Friel. She is survived by three daughters; Wendy Friel, Shawn Nachtrieb, and Tracy Quinn; five grandchildren; Kristoffer Thorpe, Mallory K. Thorpe, William Nachtrieb, Jordan and Sarah Quinn and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Naomi Boys and Lori McKean.
