John Joseph Morley, 75, of Ferndale, passed away on July 24, 2022.
He was born to Timothy and Honora (Riordan) Morley on May 29, 1947
at St. Clare Hospital, Manhattan, NY where he joined siblings Timothy,
Christopher and Carol. At age 13 the family moved to the Bronx. He
graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1965.
He was a proud veteran serving 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the
Vietnam War and continuing in the Army Reserves, serving 1 year in active
duty after 9-11 before retiring. After his service in Vietnam he was a
U.S. Marshall and then from there transitioned to working for U.S. Customs
in San Ysidro, CA as a dog handler and trained drug sniffing dogs. He
transferred up to Blaine, WA U.S. Customs in 1983 and finished his career
there with CBP after 48 years and 10 months.
After retirement he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, collecting cars
and sitting on his porch watching his sheep and dogs always by his side.
He married Roberta Deeter on Dec. 7, 1985. Adding to Roberta's son, Johnny,
they had three children together: Sarah, Sean and Rachel.
He is survived by his wife, step-son John Bauthues, daughter Sarah (Chris) Lehmann,
son Sean (Brenda Hokanson) Morley, daughter Rachel Morley. Grandchildren:
step grandson Treyton Bauthues, Grandsons: Cailen and Connor Lehmann and
Leon Morley. Granddaughter Ciara Lehmann; brother Christopher (Margaret) Morley
and sister Carol Iazzetta. Sister-in-laws Hilda Deeter, Dolores (Jesse Proffitt) Delong
and Rosa (Solomon) McAlister. Brother-in-laws Rick (Teresa) Bauthues and Fred
(Donna) Abitia Jr. and mother-in-law Gladys Abitia, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, bother Timothy Morley, brother-in-law Frank Iazetta
and father-in-law Fred Abitia Sr.
Memorial Service at Enterprise Cemetery, 7041 Vista Drive, Ferndale on Aug. 10th at 10 a.m.
