John D. Morgan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed peacefully surrounded by family on November 26, 2024, at the age of 91.
John was born July 27, 1933, to Mable and Henry Morgan in Mt Ida, Arkansas. He spent his childhood in Arkansas, Texas, and Washington. In January 1951, at age seventeen, he joined the Navy where he spent three years during the Korean War, mostly aboard a small tanker ship, the USS Rio Grande. After leaving the Navy, he settled back in Washington where he met the love of his life, Lillian Johnson. John and Lillian were married for fifty-eight wonderful years and raised four children.
John held several jobs during his married life, from truck delivery driver to being one of the last full-time horse loggers in this area. Eventually, he ran a service station before opening an automotive repair business in Bellingham, WA. He successfully ran John Morgan Service for thirty years before selling at age seventy-one to become a full-time caregiver to his wife Lil.
John was an avid fly fisherman, with a talent for tying his own flies. He loved camping and riding motorcycles but most of all, cherished every moment he had with his growing family.
After the loss of Lil in 2014, John was blessed to find happiness again with Sherill Hecock. John and Sherill were married on February 14, 2020, and he lived out his remaining years with her wonderful love and companionship.
He is survived by his wife Sherill Morgan, of Sedro Woolley, WA; sons Rick (Jeri) Morgan of Everson, WA, Kevin (Cindy) Morgan of Everson, WA, Jay (Connie) Morgan of Custer, WA; daughter Tracy (Steve) Beighle of Sedro Woolley, WA; six grandchildren, and five more by marriage; eleven precious great-grandchildren; Stepdaughters, Kimberlee (David) Dixon of Antioch, CA, Theresa (Marcos) Troche of Pittsburg, CA; sister Betty Graham of Burlington, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, two brothers, two nephews, and his stepson.
