John L. Mezo, age76, of Van Zandt, WA passed away in Bellingham, Monday, January 26, 2015 with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born in Bellingham to parents James Lester and Thelma Estella (Turner) Mezo. John was employed for many years a Carpenter and along with his father and brother ran Mezo’s Raspberries. He enjoyed fishing, trips in the motorhome, hunting and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always ready to help anyone in need and was much loved by his family and friends. John married Jean Marie Johnson March 3, 1979 at their home in Van Zandt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Thelma Mezo, his first wife Nomie, his youngest son, Kevin, his brothers, Lewis and Thomas Mezo. John is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters, Ronda of Bellingham, Lori of Spokane; sons, Lester and his wife Teresa of Idaho, Alan of South Dakota, Randy of Colorado and Scot of Bellingham; numerous grand and great grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Wolfe and Patricia Hayes both of Bellingham; brother, Steve Mezo of Ocean Shores and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, March 15, 2015, 1:00 PM at the Albert J. Hamilton Post #7, American Legion, 1688 W. Bakerview Road, Bellingham, WA 98226.
