Jewel N. Gilliam passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 in Lynden, Washington at the age of 92. She was born on September 17, 1921, to Raymond A. and Violet L. (Darrow) Rice at Garfield, Washington. Jewel married Arthur J. Gilliam at Moscow Idaho, on October 10, 1940 and were happily married for 63 years. Jewel enjoyed her children, music, plays, ushering at concerts and plays. She was involved with her church ladies group, Beta, Sigma Phi, camping and traveling. Jewel worked for Waterman’s Floor Coverings as a bookkeeper and sales person until retirement, at Moscow Idaho. Jewel moved to Bellingham, Washington at the death of her husband to be closer to her son. She is survived by her son, Jerry Gilliam (Karen) of Ferndale, Washington and her daughter Linda Ruebelmann (John) of Anchorage Alaska and six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Private family services will be held.
