James Evert “Jim” Erickson, age 66, passed away early Saturday morning August 18th surrounded by his family.
He was very much loved husband, father, Farfar (grandpa), brother, uncle and friend.
Born July 16, 1946 in Bellingham, WA to Harold and Signe (Anderson) Erickson of Ferndale, he grew up on the family farm and attended Ferndale schools, graduating in 1964. He attended LeTourneau College and Skagit Valley College and continued his quest for knowledge all his life for professional as well as personal enrichment.
Jim enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam 1967-68 as a Huey helicopter mechanic. He married Carol Doubt in 1966. Jim quietly lived his faith in Jesus Christ and served the church in numerous capacities.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Eric, sister Carolyn Gibson, and grandson Cooper James Erickson.
Survived by his wife Carol of 45 years, daughters Karen and Jill, son Tyler and his wife
Matahna, grandchildren Quentin, Makaylee, Karsten, Tevin, brother Rod (Darlene), sisters Eleanor Berg (Dick), Marie Weltz (Bob), Gwen Brown (Al), Harriet Allard (David), Joan Chittick, Barbara Hime (Mike), numerous nieces, nephews,and other relatives including many in Sweden.
Jim worked at Portrey’s Axton Mobil Service for 10 years, S & H machine shop for 20 years and the last 13 years with Motor Trucks, retiring last September. Please share your thoughts and memories on-line at www.sigsfuneralservices.com
A memorial service will be held at Birchwood Presbyterian Church, 400 Meadowbrook Court, Bellingham at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 24, 2012. Private family burial with military honors was held at Enterprise Cemetery, Ferndale. Memorials may be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital or Lymphoma Research Foundation.
