James Louis Armstrong, age 71, of Bellingham passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 in Lynden after fighting a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. He was born Dec. 11, 1942 in Seattle, Washington to parents Vincent L. and Edith (Nesheim) Armstrong. Jim is survived by his daughter, Michele Armstrong; son, Brian Armstrong; son-in-law, Jack Kabela; sister, Janice Hope; half-brother, Ray Pool; nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a hard-working man and supported his family with that hard work. Jim served in the United States Army and worked at Redden Marine for over 40 years and enjoyed every minute of it. He loved working with the public and serving the community. Jim retired in 2010 and volunteered with the local food bank until 2012. Jim fought for many years and lost the fight from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. He passed away peacefully and is no longer suffering.
Jim’s family sends many thanks to the amazing staff at Silverado of Bellingham, Christian Health Care of Lynden and Whatcom Hospice of Bellingham who helped Jim to be comfortable until his final days. May you continue to rest in peace, enjoy your journey and take care of Mom and Curado. You will be missed and we all love you very much.
