Isabel Huntoon passed away peacefully and went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 26, 2015. Isabel was born in Washington, Pa. on April 9th, 1921 to Rev. Steven and Idavel Roy. She graduated from Muskingum College in New Concord, OH, then served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Nurses Corp during WWII. Following the war, while a nurse in Rome, Italy, she met her future husband, Robert Huntoon, a US Marine and Embassy guard. They were married in 1948 and had three sons. She earned a Masters Degree in nursing from the University of Washington. She worked for several years as an RN. She then worked as a school nurse for the Seattle School District until she retired. Isabel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years, her brother Mac, and her two sisters Martha and Katherine. She is survived by her brother Mark Roy of Paradise, CA; her sons Eric Huntoon (Dana) of Bellingham, Bruce Huntoon of Manson, WA and Keith Huntoon of Bellingham; two grandchildren Carson Huntoon (Angie) of Bellingham and Kimberly Huntoon (Sawyer Cozart) of Tahoe City, CA; and two great grandchildren Henry and Andrew Huntoon; and many nephews, nieces, and their families. Isabel and Robert lived in Edmonds, WA for 55 years until the death of Bob, her husband. She then moved to Bellingham to be closer to family. Isabel was a devout Christian and member of the Presbyterian Church for most of her life. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort to her throughout her life. Isabel believed in the value of medical students being able to study the human body first hand. She willed her body to the UW Medical School for use in their classes and studies. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staffs at Emeritus Assisted Living and Mt. Baker Care Center for the love and care they gave to their mother, grandmother, and friend. A private service was held on January 28th, 2015 in Isabel's honor.
