Grace Sams Steinert Peterson passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023 at her home in Ferndale, WA. She dedicated her life to keeping her family intact and doing for others. Grace endured many challenges through the years but never allowed bitterness to take root in her heart. She was a true example of humility and dearly loved her family. Grace loved and followed Jesus as her Savior. She was born to John Calvin and Mildred Laura Sams July 30 1921 in the family home near Biddle, MT. After her father passed away the family moved to Miles City, MT and it was there that she met and married Willis Steinert. Together they had four children, Kathryn (Gene) Parker parents of Ed, Val and Curt, Sandra (Ed) Harris parents of Shelly, Kyle and Alana, Darla Alke mother of Brandon and Brooklyn and Daryn father of Sedar, Sylena, Daryn, Alyssia and Kristopher. There are numerous great and great great grandchildren. Grace was blessed to have Becky Unger as a best friend and she loved her caregivers, Norma, Caroline and Sharon. Nothing could make Grace smile more than a grandchild walking through the door. During her 102 years, she was an avid Pinochle player and with her 80 years of experience could beat us all. She loved gardening, especially growing roses and could never have too many houseplants. Grace loved to bake and had a never ending sweet tooth, enjoying cookies every morning before breakfast. Even though mobility was an issue in her later years she attended Church and Senior Center activities as health allowed.
