Gary Scott Tretwold

July 26, 2024, Gary was “set free”. He went home to rest in peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In his twenties, Gary was born again through his baptism.

Gary was born October 1, 1960 to Robert and Bette Tretwold. He was their fourth and last child.

Born and raised in Bellingham, Gary had a wonderful childhood full of adventure. He went boating, hunting, fishing with the family. He spent a great deal of time out at Gooseberry point/Fishermans Cove with his grandparents, The Hankes. Gary was an inquisitive child who took things apart just to see how they worked. After graduating from Bellingham High School in 1979, this inquisitive gift, lead him to pursue his secondary education in analog/digital electronics, automated process control and microprocessors. He graduated from Phoenix Institute of Technology in 1981 with perfect attendance and making the Dean’s list.

Gary owned and operated his own business Tretwold Enterprises. He wired many homes/boats. His business also included making zincs for boats as well as for homes in Palm Desert, California. He also owned and operated a gilnetter.

Gary loved music, motorcycles, scuba diving, hang gliding, snow skiing, ice hockey, fishing and boating. He had just purchased and was restoring a 1972 31’ Uniflite. This was a dream come true to own a Uniflite like the one he enjoyed growing up. He loved all his pets both cats and many dogs. He was happiest when flying his Ultralight all over Skagit and Whatcom County. He enjoyed working on his 5 acre property. He was an adventurer!

Gary had a core group of friends who were always trying to help him be his best self. Gary had a big heart. He was generous and helpful to many. That is the Gary we will all remember!

Gary was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Bette in 2006 and father Bob in 2023.

He is survived by his sister Teri (Mike) McCulloh, brother Greg Tretwold, sister Leanne (Brad) Keel. Nephews/Niece Chris (Hilary) Tretwold, Breanna (Greg) Gaspar, Josh Keel, Austin (Emma) Tretwold and great nieces/nephew Gemma, Kingston Gaspar, Ida Tretwold.

A Private family burial is planned.
