  Frances Lucille (Burns) Johnson passed into the hands our Lord Monday, March 16, 2015.

Frances was born to Harvey E. and Tillie A. Burns, the fifth of seven children (Harvey, Harley, Delno, Lavera, Carmen and Amy), Feb. 9, 1912, in Liberal Kansas.  Frances was Salutatorian of the Liberal, Kansas High School class of 1930 and married E.J. “Slim” Johnson in 1939 and lived in Illinois, Texas, and Oregon before she and Slim, with sons Jim and Jerry, moved to Sumas, WA in 1957. She has survived cancer surgery, an auto accident, the death of Slim in 1983 and 103 years of life on earth.  She did not know why she lived so long and simply said “God is in control and I will be happy to meet Him face to face whenever He sees fit.”  Frances was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, and all (?) of her childhood friends. She is survived by two sons ­ Jim (Marlys Smith) and Jerry (Norma DeVries), 5 grandchildren ­ Kandis McDonald, Travis Johnson, Kristal (Patrick) Quinn, Darren (Chantel) Johnson and Stephanie (Dana) Hagen, 19 great grandchildren ­ Michael, Joshua, Emily, Sarah, Aaron, Benjamin and Kristopher McDonald , Bethanni, Piper and Autumn Quinn, Jarred, Thomas(Stephanie) and Timothy Johnson, Jaden Schibel, Nick, Hailey and Luke Johnson and Tyler and Alexie Hagen, 2 great great grandchildren ­ Isabelle and Landon Johnson, 4 nephews­ Terry Burns, Van Johnson, Robert Anthony and Gale Ormiston and 1 niece ­ Gay Ormiston.  Frances was greatly admired by her family and friends throughout her life as a person of wisdom, character and loyalty.  She will be missed.   Special thanks go to her new friends and caregivers at Highland Health and Rehabilitation for their extraordinary care and compassion during her two year stay there.  May God bless you in all you do.

  A private family graveside service will be held at Greenacres Cemetery in Ferndale.
