Floyd Jacobson

April 10, 1936 — March 20, 2025

Floyd was born in Two Harbors, Minnesota to Julius and Ester Jacobson.  The family moved to Ferndale, Washington in 1945 where Floyd attended school in Custer and graduated from Ferndale High School.

After graduation, he worked at the Darigold plant in Bellingham.  It was during this time he met Norma Friberg and they married in 1958.  Soon after marying Norma, Floyd was drafted into the Army and he and Norma moved to Hawaii where they were stationed at Schofield Barracks.

Following the end of his time in the service, the family moved back to Washington for a short period of time before the moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where Floyd attended Oregon Technical Institute, graduating with an Associates Degree of Engineering.  After graduation they moved to Seattle, where Floyd began his work in HVAC.  In 1967 they moved again, settling in Bellingham.

Floyd worked in Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning for 40 years, a career that he loved.

Floyd and Norma were members of Northwest Baptist Church, and recently attended Northlake Community Church.

Floyd died peacefully on March 20th 2025 at Whatcom Hospice House, with his family by his side, after a recent decline of health.  Floyd is survived by his wife of 66 years, Norma, daughter, Laura (Carl), and sons, Douglas (Ruth) and Phillip (Jennifer).  He was especially fond of his 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and they were equally fond of him.

Floyd's family would like to thank the staff at Peace Health St. Joseph's Hospital for their kind and attentive care during his stays.  We would especially like to thank Dr. Sebastian Varas for your compassionate concern for our dad.  Words cannot express the gratitude we have for the doctors and staff at Whatcom Hospice House; you provided such warm, tender care to both our dad and our family during our brief time with you.

The Jacobson Family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Whatcom Hospice House.  A private internment will take place later this spring.
