Duane Lyle Burling

Duane L. Burling, age 89, of Ferndale, Washington went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Lynden.  Duane was born January 7, 1929 in Colfax, Wisconsin to Lawrence and Lila (Downs) Burling. He was the sixth of seven children.  In April 24, 1947 Duane married Octavia Gudrun Freda Thorlakson in Mountain, North Dakota.  They were married for 65 years.  Duane was a devoted husband and father always putting God first in his life.  Duane and his wife Octavia were active in the Blaine Assemblies of God Church for many years. He and Octavia also spent many years volunteering at local nursing homes, bringing a smile to the faces of all they encountered.  Duane was always eager to share the word of God with everyone he encountered. 

Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Octavia and daughter, Shirley Klineman, brothers Juel, Chuck, Ronny, and sisters, Marion Gentry, Clarisse Grace. Duane is survived by his daughters, Janice (Lee) Wiebe, Sharon (David) Workentin, Terrie Burling; son Mike (Beryl) Burling and son inlaw Paul Klineman, 12 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren, and sister, Clara Zabrocki.

The family would like to thank Whatcom Hospice and the Visiting Nurses for all of the loving care. Graveside service will be at the Enterprise Cemetery December 21, 2018 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Duane’s name to Whatcom Hospice.
