Donald Duane Schnackenberg

Donald Duane Schnackenberg passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in Bellingham, WA.  He was born in Deshler, NE on February 18, 1934 to Martin and Hulda Schnackenberg and moved to Custer, WA with his family when he was 17 years old.  He joined the Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. After being Honorably Discharged, he married Beverly Sager and had two sons. He worked in carpentry and construction most of his life, then went to Alaska working as a Millwright on the Alaska Pipeline, and met his second wife, Donna Barber. In later years they moved to Montana where he retired.  He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Beverly, and second wife, Donna; also, brothers, Norm, LaVern & Darrel. Donald is survived by sons, Jeff (Sandra), Greg (Leyda) and grandson, Colby; sisters, Marlene (Duffy) Phillips, Kathleen (Jack) McCann, Karen (Dave) Robson, and Gale (Jerry) Leuenberger. And numerous nephews and nieces. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 27, at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 2750 McLeod Rd. Bellingham from 11am to 1pm with coffee and cookies being served.  Private family interment with Military Honors will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
