Donald Peter Lind

Bellingham, Washington – Donald Peter Lind age 93, passed away January 6, 2025, after a short illness. Donald was born July 29, 1931, in Bellingham, Washington to Peter and Doris Inez Lind. He grew up in Bellingham and attended Bellingham High School. He married his high school sweetheart Margaret Haveman Lind on December 28, 1951. Together they raised four children - Lori, Lisa, Susan, and David. 

Donald was a shipwright – a trade he learned from his father. He worked for Bellingham Shipyard, Amfab, and was a part owner of Post Point Marine. He also worked at Haskell Corporation and retired from Dakota Creek Industries in Anacortes as Yard Superintendent, supervising engineering, lofting and new construction. After retirement Donald and Margaret loved traveling to Hawaii and going to craft shows around the northwest in their trailer selling Margaret’s windsocks. They met many cherished friends along the way.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Margaret Haveman Lind in 2023, his parents Peter and Doris Lind, sister Edna Esterby, son-in-law Stanley Erickson and granddaughter Lindsay Erickson. Brother-in-law’s and sister-in-law’s Tom and Patricia Haveman, Ian and Ruth Monson and special niece Kathy Kaiser.

Survivors include Lori Erickson, Lisa Anderson (Donald), Susan Metcalfe (Forest) and David Lind. Grandchildren Jill Erickson (Alex Gomez), Tim Erickson (Bri), Sarah Holmes (Trenton), Angelica Metcalfe and Ryan Metcalfe. Great grandchildren Liam Anderson Holmes, Uniq, Antonio and Gianna Metcalfe. Brother and sister-in-law Victor and Cherry Lind and many other loving family members and friends.

Sending much love and appreciation to all of Don’s wonderful caregivers who enriched his life tremendously. Because of them he was able to remain in his home during his last years as he lived with the effects of Parkinson’s disease.

A private family graveside service is planned.
