Della Jean Maffei

Della Jean Maffei passed away on September 22, 2015 at Hospice House in Bellingham. She was 94.  Della was born to Smith and Florence Bell on September 13, 1921 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan.  She was the youngest of their four children.   She married Hugh R. Maffei on December 24, 1965 and together they shared almost 50 wonderful years.

 Della was a deeply caring and loving person, always full of energy and busy with a view to  helping others.   From managing her home and family and her business (restaurant) in her younger days, to maintaining and  improving several lovely gardens, and creating beautiful jewelry as she grew older, she was seldom idle.  

 Della dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 21, 1951 and one of her greatest joys was sharing her faith and teaching others about the Bible's hope of a resurrection which she now awaits in peaceful sleep with her beloved grandson Brian. 

 Della is survived by her loving husband Hugh, and her son Robert Lee, Jr., daughter, Lila Kenney (Jerry), great grandson, Andrew Arellano and several nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by her family and many dear friends.

 A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1525 Electric Ave. at 1:00 PM Saturday October 3, 2015, with a reception to follow.

 The family wishes to express their gratitude and sincere appreciation for the caring and kindness shown to Della both at Spring Creek and Hospice House. The many nurses and caregivers greatly added to her comfort and support during her final days. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to Whatcom Hospice or Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.  Checks should be made to “Watchtower” and sent to Watchtower, Bible and Tract Society of NY, Inc., Attn.  Treasurer's Office, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY  11201-2483.
