Cheri Elaine (Ten Kley) Johnson, age 69, met her Lord and Savior unexpectedly Sunday, August 1, 2021. Cheri was born August 7, 1951 to her parents, Leonard and Dianne (Wellbrock) Cowden. She was raised in Deming and graduated from Mt. Baker High School with the Class of 1969. Cheri married Mike Ten Kley in February of 1971 and they enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing in 2006. They raised three beautiful children and Cheri worked at the Christian Healthcare Center as a beautician and also served at Word of Life Church in the Children’s Ministry. She had such a heart for people, young and old. In 2011, she married Spencer Johnson and they spent time in Yuma each year and enjoyed camping at the river. Cheri loved spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and taking care of her dad. She lovingly invested in the lives of each of her grandchildren. Cheri enjoyed scrapbooking, playing card games, mochas, and serving others. She loved to be around people and many have been blessed by her spontaneous visits. Her laugh was infectious.
Cheri is survived by her husband Spencer of 9 years; sons, Jeremy and his wife Heather, Kyle and his wife Angela and daughter La’Renda; seven grandchildren, Skyler, Madalyn, Conner, Mazie, Sydney, Rylee, and Addison Ten Kley; father Leonard Cowden; 1 brother Steve (Karla) Cowden, 2 sisters Valarie Barker and Cathy (Ron) Groen; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends. Her friends and family were so special to her, thank you for loving our mom just as she was.
