Our sister, Carol Ann Winslow, age 59, of Bellingham, passed away in Bellingham, Monday, December 15, 2014. She was the third daughter of Charles and Mary Lou Winslow, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her sisters, Jeanne Durbin and Sandra Stone, and her brother, Leon Winslow, as well as numerous other relatives scattered across the country.
Carol was a brave little girl, who liked wading in the cold waves of the central coast of California when she was two; who was the first to stick out her arm to get shots to go to Germany months later; and who pushed her baby brother out of the way of a hot coffee pot, which burned her instead, when she was almost three.
And she grew into a brave, strong and spirited woman (some might even say stubborn), who dealt with many trials in her life. Her last six years were especially hard, with her many medical problems draining her vitality. Still, every once in a while, the spirit of “little” Carol shone through. Even in the difficult times, we loved her very much. Her death will affect each of us in different ways, but we won’t forget her.
