Brian Edward Baker

December 29, 1965 — December 11, 2024

Everson, WA

Brian Edward Baker passed away peacefully at home in Everson on December 11, 2024. He was born on December 29, 1965 in Renton, WA to Vonnie (Crabtree) and Lynn Baker. At six years of age, the family moved to Bellingham, WA where Lynn worked as a mechanical engineer at Georgia-Pacific.

Upon graduating from high school Brian joined the Navy where was an aircraft mechanic on the aircraft carrier USS Constellation. Upon honorable discharge, he returned to Bellingham and began working in Facilities at Christensen Engineering Corp in Bellingham where he met his future wife, Marie Saul. While there, he transitioned into Piping Design. During a layoff from Christensen, he made ends meet working as a taxi driver.

He was eventually hired at Anvil Corp. as a Piping Designer, a job he loved and at which he excelled. He worked briefly at Jacobs Engineering in Houston in 2012-2013 before returning to Anvil where he worked until February 2022.

Brian and Marie moved to Everson in 2004 and enjoyed the privacy and beauty of ten country acres. They threw several summer parties, including a live band and catered pig roast. Brian especially enjoyed taking folks on wagon rides around the property, driving his trusty John Deere tractor. He had a healthy sense of humor and always had a joke to tell.

Brian and Marie got engaged in Cartagena, Colombia in 2007 while on a transit cruise of the Panama Canal. During a stop in Costa Rica, they decided to marry there the following year. They tied the knot on Langosta Beach in Tamarindo on September 13, 2008 with close friends in attendance.

During their marriage Brian and Marie traveled to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, Italy, Spain, took a trans- Atlantic cruise, and visited the Cook Islands in the South Pacific.

Brian also enjoyed boating, target shooting, blacksmithing, tinkering in his shop, playing video games and spending time with his dogs.

He is survived by Marie Kay Saul, his wife of 16 years; mother Vonnie Baker; and daughter Laurie DeeAnn Baker. He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Baker.

Special thanks to Eden Hospice whose folks took great care of him his last weeks at home. Donations may be made in his name to the Bellingham Food Bank or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Brian was never fond of wet, dark Washington winters, so interment and a celebration of his life will be held this summer.
