Bertie Lynn Terpstra

Bertie Lynn Terpstra was born on December 26, 1963 to Hank and Ann Hornstra. She was the third of four children. BJ (Kevin) Dripps, Jen (Mike) VanBerkum and Mike (Char) Hornstra. Bertie passed away on Monday, February 2, 2025 at the Bellingham Hospice House at the age of 61.

Bertie is survived by her partner George Bergsma; Oldest son Brandon (Lindy) Terpstra and their children Jasmine, Tyler, Kaylee, Cooper, Madalyn; Youngest son Lance (Janis) Terpstra and their children Brynnley, Olivia, Gavin.

Bertie was born in Orange California. She grew up in Garden Grove California on her parents’ farm. She moved to Cathlamet, Washington when her parents sold the farm in Garden Grove. She then moved to Sumas, Washington when her parents bought a new dairy farm. Bertie graduated from Nooksack Valley High School.

She married Daryl Terpstra in 1984 and had two sons. In October 2007 she met George Bergsma and they lived in Lynden and then eventually bought a house in Everson where she resided till her passing. She loved working in the yard at her house. She fought cancer for over a year and a half. She was loved and will be dearly missed. Bertie’s favorite song was “It is well with my soul”.

Honoring Bertie’s request, there will be a private family memorial at a later date.
