Barbara Jean Mortensen (Leonard)

Barbara passed away April 14, 2014 at 9:43 PM at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center after a 10 year battle with Leukemia and a 2-1/2 year fight with kidney failure. Barbara leaves behind her oldest son Jeffery Mortensen and granddaughter Sara Rose VanNest; brother, Don Leonard, Ted Leonard; sister, Diane Pugel; Uncle and Aunt Art and Betty Hendricksen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Blaine and Mildred Leonard; brothers, Georgie, Doug and Fred Leonard; and youngest son Steven Mortensen. Barbara adored her sons and was heart broken when Steven passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. She was so grateful to son Jeffery for sharing his heart and home and overseeing her medical care and personal affairs. Special thanks to Doug and Tammy, Kathy and Lisa.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, 3:00 PM, 3222 Bennett Drive, Bellingham, WA 98225. Barbara’s favorite Turkey dinner with all the fixings will be served. Please bring a side dish. Thanks Mom, you were the best! Mom always loved a great party!
