Barbara Jo Lincoln

December 21, 1935 — May 29, 2024

Ferndale

Barbara Jo Lincoln, age 88, of Ferndale passed away Wednesday May 29, 2024 in Bellingham and was born in San Bernardino, CA on December 21, 1935 to Allen P. and Mabel N. (Anderson) Lincoln the fourth of five children. The family moved to their aunts’ farm in rural Whatcom County, WA in 1946. She attended and graduated from Lynden High School in 1954. Her love of style and beauty was enhanced by her enrollment in McDonalds Beauty College the same year. Soon she was the owner/operator of Barbara’s Cut, Color and Curl beauty salon in Bellingham where for 30 years she and her team of stylists adorned the shop with dozens of trophies and awards.

Barbara, Barb or to family Bobbi, lived on her little farm for 65 years where she raised her blended family, Marla and Jeffery Sorenson and after her marriage to Albert Hernandez in 1960, step-sons Mike and Frank Hernandez completed the family. Early on the family chores involved the raising of poodles, Siamese cats and beef cattle.

After selling her beauty shop, she and Al worked selling campground memberships locally for several years, then moved to California and worked with her step-brothers Jim and John Monroe and son Jeff.

Upon returning ‘home’ she became involved in her community, volunteering in her many areas of interest where she was considered “A Class Act”, modeling in style shows for ‘100 Years of Fashion’, as the annual Mystery Theater coordinator, the Ferndale Image Group, and Ferndale Heritage Society.

She loved ‘beautifying’ everything – her home, her yard, and yes, her award winning Christmas golf cart in Texas.

Barb played in a Senior Softball League in Texas for her last 5 years. She was an avid Mariners fan, even keeping stats of every game as our Mother did for our Fathers semi-pro baseball team in the league in California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all four children; Marla, Jeff, Mike and Frank, her husbands; Lyle Sorenson, Al Hernandez, and Myron Walker, grandson Mike Hernandez, Jr., son-in-law Roger Maassen, siblings; Emil ‘Sonny/Al’ and (Bernie) Lincoln, Mabel (Frank) Henderson, brothers-in-law, Frank Henderson, Duane Junkin, Gary Morgan and step-mother Evie Monroe. Bobbi is greatly missed by her survivors, grandsons Cody Craig and Eric Sorenson, daughter in law Kathy Marlowe (Kelly), sisters Vivian Junkin and Irene Morgan, step brothers Jim and John Monroe and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Ferndale Senior Center at Pioneer Park, 1998 Cherry St., Ferndale, WA 98248.  In lieu of flowers and gifts please donate to her sisters non-profit at https://therestorativecommunity.org

She was welcomed into Heaven with a thunderous roar from all those who have gone before – waiting to embrace her once more. Rest well Bobbi!
