Barbara Jo Bergstrom

Barbara Jo Bergstrom, age 77, of Bellingham, passed away Monday September 8, 2014 in Bellingham. She was born in Superior, Wisconsin on February 16, 1937. Barbara graduated from high school in Newport, WA and then attended WSU. She married her sweetheart, Gary Bergstrom on July 28, 1956. After marriage they returned to WSU where Gary completed his Pharmacy Degree. Barbara enjoyed her family very much. She was an avid reader and a quilter and enjoyed bible study with her friends at Trinity Lutheran Church. Barbara’s faith sustained her during these past six years while she had

Multiple Myeloma. Her parents, Ruby and Albert Yonck, and Clifford and Pearl Belsh, and brother Albert preceded her in death. She is survived by husband Gary of 58 years; Daughters, LeeAnn (Craig) Smythe, Amy Jo (Eric) Pierson, and son Dr. Mark Jon Bergstrom (Carol); Grandchildren Katelyn and Gary Smythe, Matthew Bergstrom, Gunnar, Annika and Olin Pierson; Brother Richard (Barbara) Yonck and Sister-in-law Margaret Bergstrom. Special thanks to the excellent care Barbara received from Doctors David Wisner, Mark Lindenbaum, and Jennie Crews. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday September 12, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas Street, Bellingham, WA 98225 and will be followed by a light luncheon reception. Inurnment Lakeview Cemetery, Sandpoint, Idaho. To honor Barbara, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church’s Foundation for the Future, the American Cancer Society, or the Wounded Warriors Project.
